Grant Stoner Education & Brain Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Grant Alexander Stoner (January 8, 1972 – May 14, 2019) was diagnosed in January 2017 with grade 4 glioblastoma, an incurable and aggressive form of brain cancer. From that day until the day he passed, he chose to live life to its fullest extent - traveling with his wife and children, attending concerts and sporting events he loved, and visiting family and friends all over the country. Throughout the course of his illness, he worried more about his immediate family than he did about himself. Grant made sure to show them constant love and affection while managing this significant challenge - an incredibly selfless act which must be honored. The impact Grant had on his community was large, and he will be fiercely missed. We are asking in lieu of flowers that you consider making a contribution towards one of two options.
The first option is an education fund for Grant’s children Wyatt and Naomi to use for their college education. Grant earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 that propelled him into a challenging career at Avery Dennison; he spoke often of how much he enjoyed his position and colleagues. He obtained student loans to earn this degree, and it has always been his wish to help his children attend college. Grant would be honored and grateful for any assistance in that regard. All funds donated towards this goal will be placed into an interest-earning investment accessible only by Wyatt and Naomi when they attend college.
The second option is a donation towards brain cancer research. Following his marriage in 2018, Grant made a substantial donation to the American Brain Tumor Association. He believed in a reasonable goal of extending quality, meaningful life for brain cancer patients. He understood while there may not be a cure for this disease, continued investment in science and research would help to increase the long-term chances of survival for himself and others. Donations to the ABTA will be made in Grant’s name on behalf of the Stoner family.
Please indicate if you wish your contribution to go towards the education fund, the ABTA, or both. We have set a modest goal but hope to exceed it. If you are unable to leave a comment via the mobile gofundme platform and wish your contribution to go towards the ABTA only, please donate there directly via the following link: ABTA Ways to Donate - donations received without direction will go towards the education fund.
We thank you for your consideration during this time. Grant is an exceptional individual with a huge heart and passionate soul. We are grateful to have been part of his life, and we know he will be watching over us until we see him again in the next life.
