5km Charity Family Run in aid of Parkinson's Association
Donation protected
My name is Mary Ita O’Connor and I live in Milford, Co. Cork but I originally hail from Tournafulla, West Limerick. My allegiance to The Treaty County has never wavered. My favourite past time is going to GAA matches – Hurling and Football, both club and county.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over 22 years ago. This came to a head in 2015 when I fell and fractured some ribs. I was out of work for a few years and as a past time I took up running on a treadmill which I bought off Donedeal. In February 2017 with the support of my daughter, Ger, I ran my first parkrun in Newcastle West with a rollator. Since then, my friends and I can be seen running in different parts of the country, taking part in 5km and 10km fun runs. I love these weekly runs and have met the most wonderful people along the way.
Parkinson’s is a neurological condition which is now the second most progressive neurological condition in the world. Funding is needed by the Parkinson’s Association in order to continue to provide support and services to its members.
I would love to make a difference in fellow Parkinson’s disease sufferers lives and hope that with your help to achieve my goal.
I am organising a 5km run/walk on Sunday, 13th April at 11am in the Demesne, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Registration to take part in the run/walk can be paid on the day (see further details below) and all other donations can be made through this page. I would appreciate if you could please give generously to this worthy cause.
Many thanks,
Mary Ita
