Vivian's Bat Mitzvah Project

Dear Friends and Family-
I’m writing to you all because you are my favorite people in the world, and I think you’re the most likely to want to help.
My Bat Mitzvah is coming up on April 25! As part of my Bat Mitzvah prep (and beyond…), I am doing a “Mitzvah Project.” Because I love dogs so much, I figured I would help two shelters in two different ways.
The first shelter is the Westchester Humane Society, a no kill shelter. Its mission is to promote the relationship of humans and animals through the amazing care and treatment of those animals. They have created “a living environment that is not just a shelter, but a transitional home for stray, lost, abandoned, injured, and abused animals”.
The second place I want to help is Potcake Place , a dog rescue charity based in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. “Potcakes” are the native dogs of Turks and Caicos. Their name comes from islanders who would feed the dogs leftovers in a pot.
Potcake Place is near and dear to my heart. I have volunteered there already and my dogs Cece and Gizmo were rescued by the organization. Cece was found on the streets protecting another dog's puppies. She still has the physical scars on her head. Gizmo was hit by a vehicle that shattered and destroyed his back leg, and Potcake Place medical volunteers removed his leg and saved him.
I first met and fell in love with Gizmo when I was volunteering at Potcake Place washing the dogs.

I will be using your donations to buy materials for the Westchester Human Society, which I will deliver and organize before my Bat Mitzvah. The rest of the money will be donated to Potcake Place to help fund its operations.
