5N2 Needs Your Help to Keep Scarborough Fed!

We are currently facing lease termination and need to relocate by the end of 2021!

We at 5n2 are calling on the community to help us raise funds in order to secure our new space. Our lease is being terminated by the end of the year, and if we don’t secure these funds by September, we will be forced to scale back on our operations, potentially leaving hundreds of our community members hungry.

At 5n2 we’ve always worked to respond to the food needs of the Scarborough community. Since the organization started in 2013, we have seen the need for food increase exponentially. In every community, at every age, hunger is real and the issue remains largely hidden. The need for food has pushed our organization to develop new programs and initiatives that address the concerns of at-risk and marginalized communities.

We have remained in operation seven days each week since the pandemic and have been providing the community with over 3500 meals per week to guarantee that the Scarborough community is fed fresh, healthy, and nourishing meals.

While our ultimate goal to secure our new location is $170,000,  we would be grateful if our community could raise our starting goal of $20,000. Since our current grants cannot be used for this purpose, the funds raised here will be used to renovate our proposed new location of 705 Progress Avenue.

Although this new space will allow us to expand our operations significantly, it requires substantial repairs to be functional. Changes include installing a commercial kitchen, office spaces and washrooms. We are confident that our community can come together during this time of need to assist us in renovating this new space to house 5n2.

As an organization, we are constantly optimizing our services to adhere to the needs of the community. We currently run 5 different programs that uniquely address food insecurity and build sustainability.

While 2050 Ellesmere has been home to us for several years and has allowed us to transition from a small soup kitchen to a multi food program, we have outgrown this space and urgently need your support to help us relocate. This is why we are turning back to the community to ask for help, so food insecurity can continue to be addressed!
