Dusty's Sacks of Hope - Portland
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dusty and I'm a 9 year old boy from Vancouver, WA. I've been volunteering with my family in homeless shelters and soup kitchens in Philadelphia since I was 5 years old and helping people in need is very important to me.
My family moved to Portland, OR and the shelters and programs here say I'm too young to help which makes me sad. So I had an idea, what if I do it myself?
Dusty's Sacks of Hope will take your donations and make bagged lunches, me and my family will drive into Portland and pass them out to people that need them..there are a lot of homeless people in Portland! Even kids my age. I really want to help them, and with your help, I can.
My Mom says she thinks every $100 we collect can make about 120 lunches, which we'll pack ourselves and pass out unless other people want to help out. Every dollar helps, so no donation is too small. If you can only give $1 that's great because we can do a lot with that dollar. My Mom says $2 will buy a loaf of bread.
Everyone that donates will get a thank you e-mail from me with pictures or videos of me passing out the food when we do it so you can see where your money went.
Thanks for helping me with my dream of making the world just a little bit better for people that could use a little hope!
**A note from Dusty's father**
If this program gains traction, we intend to form a Non-Profit Organization so your donations will then be tax deductible, but for now we're starting small until it picks up steam. Thank you from our family, Dusty wants to change the world so he's starting here in our back yard.
