MAKE HISTORY IMPACTING DISADVANTAGED YOUNG PEOPLE

Donation protected
We are about to make history by impacting the career prospects of disadvantaged and Black young people more than ever before. If that means something to you, then we would love for you to partner with us.

In a nutshell, we are developing an APP to provide FREE mentorship for disadvantaged and Black young people aged 18-25 year olds to help them navigate their careers. Also, giving them FREE access to laptops and career opportunities.

More information is below :

Presenter, mentor and founder Andre Spence of charitable organisation Global Purpose Enterprise (GPE) started his career on a reality show on MTV, presented and Blogged for MOBO and pulled together events with world-class talent in support of charity.

As Andre sought after attention, affirmation and approval, his life wasn’t what he was portraying, he simply was living in fear, frustration and failure because he lacked guidance.

However, all that changed when Andre gained MENTORSHIP. Two mentors took him under their wings and helped give him the platform to discover himself and consequently the direction he should take in his career.

Andre began to write his book ‘Why The Hell Am I Here” and to his amazement, it was his Black peers (not white ones) in the entertainment industry that helped him with the research tasks for his book! It was then he realised that other Young Black people and those of diverse ethnic backgrounds also didn’t know how to navigate their careers because they lacked Mentorship, the right networks, technology and job opportunities.

At that point Andre dedicated his life to levelling up disadvantaged and Black young people to discover their purpose and maximise their potential through events, mentorship and consulting.

Since 2017 Andre and his small team (sometimes by himself!) put on over 160 events with 15,000 attendees, developed a mentorship program that has had over 370 mentees and worked with corporates such as Ernst and Young to increase applications and offers amongst disadvantaged and Black young people.

These are great results but Andre wants to do more and a big barrier to scaling the programme is the current often time-consuming manual processes behind the scenes.

This has inspired the next mission!

This app will change your life

To develop and launch an app that provides FREE mentoring for these young disadvantaged and Black people aged 18–25-year-olds starting in the UK with 12-minute video calls to help them navigate their career journey.

Coupled with the app it’s important to give access to technology because we have seen many young people lack tech equipment such as laptops to enable them to research and career opportunities and ultimately get them their dream jobs!

Launching in the first Quarter of 2023

The goal is simple by the end of 2023 we want to:

Onboard 10,000 Mentees to have 100,000 career mentorship calls, whilst providing 1000 career opportunities.

SO HOW CAN YOU PARTNER WITH US?

For us to make history by changing the trajectory of all these disadvantaged and Black young people’s lives we need to raise funds to develop, launch and keep the app running for the first year.

THE BREAKDOWN OF COSTS FOR THE YEAR

Staffing and resources: £108,000

Black young people are upskilled and paid. There are two full-time and four part-time staff. There are also 10 volunteers whose travel and lunch costs are covered. If the company does not have a skill set within our organisation we will externally outsource them and partner with the contractor to mentor the young people to take over the role.

App development: We are getting quotes now and will update you as soon as the best engineer for the project is available.

To develop the app we are getting young junior developers to build it. This will increase their coding experience and enhance their CV while being mentored by a senior software developer.

There are 10 features, 10 groups of up to 5 young people. We are looking for one overarching experienced software engineer with a heart for our community and will be in charge of mentoring, testing, integrating and deploying the apps.

THE FUTURE
We will start in the UK but we believe that every disadvantaged young person in the world should have access to mentorship and career opportunities for them to grow as people.
