Ready! Set! Jump In!

We know kids love to swim in the summer. Do you remember that wonderful feeling after spending a summer day in the water? It’s one of the best things about summer in Maine! Swimming is not only a joy, but it’s an important skill for all children and teens.

Not everyone has their own pool. Fortunately, families on the east side of Bangor have had Dakin Pool to enjoy in the summers since it opened in 1956.

We are a group of Bangor residents, some of whom swam in Dakin Pool when we were young, who all care deeply about the kids, families, and seniors who love swimming all summer long. Together, we formed the Friends of Dakin Pool nonprofit, and we are excited to announce our new initiative - Jump In! The Campaign to Support Dakin Pool. We are raising $160,000 to support the city’s efforts to maintain and operate this community gem on Pine Street.

We are inviting you to jump in and contribute any amount to support Dakin Pool. You’ll be joining people who care about Dakin Pool and want to help.

This campaign is raising funds to:

• Provide incentives for lifeguards

• Replace the pool slide

• Repair the pool house

• Fund future pool upgrades

• Cover swim fees for kids

• Offer pool exercise programs

• Pay campaign expenses

Jump in and be part of this campaign. Any funds raised over the goal will be reserved for future Dakin Pool projects.

The Friends of Dakin Pool want to raise as much as we can to show how many people value Dakin Pool. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

This campaign is for the kids, young and not-so-young, who love to swim all summer! Please join us. Jump in! Your contribution brings us one step closer to the $160,000 goal.
