Miss Kansas USA 2019

For those of you who didn't know, this November I am competing in the Miss Kansas USA pageant on the 24th-25th! The pageant will take place at the Kansas Star Casino, and this will be my third year competing. My first year was full of lots of learning and experience - enough that it managed to help me make it to the semifinals my second year! This year, I hope to bring home the crown so that I can use my year of service to advocate about issues that are important to me such as equality, bullying, immigration, and body-shaming. These are topics that I'm very passionate about, and know that I can influence positive change towards if I'm given the opportunity to represent the state as your new Miss Kansas USA.

A Little About Me:

- On September 23rd, 2016, after a lengthy journey of 16 years, I was finally granted my U.S. Citizenship and was able to proudly recite my oath at my naturalization ceremony at Century II. This is a memory that I will forever cherish in my heart, as it was the day I was able to declare myself a citizen to the country I love so dearly. I am so proud to be able to call this country my home. Additionally, with my citizenship, I was finally eligible to compete at Miss Kansas USA, which has brought me one step closer to fulfilling my ambition to unite our nation, despite our differences.

- I currently work at St. Teresa Via Christi and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center as a PCT and phlebotomist.  I cannot emphasize enough how much I love my job. I am so blessed to not only work at places that I love, but that also allows me to do what I love - impact the lives of strangers. My job has allowed me to grow in appreciate for all human beings. While we may all differ in our behaviors, external appearance, and beliefs; internally, we are all the same.

- Foremost, my goal is to be chosen to be the next Miss Kansas USA so that I have access to the tools and resources they can provide me to help make a difference for not only our own community, but for our country. However, my educational aspirations are to attend medical school at the University of Kansas, where I plan to pursue a career in dermatology or as an emergency medical specialist.

I consider myself a 'go-getter' who firmly believes in the saying, "If you want something done, you have to do it yourself." However, while this sores me, I am here to ask for help from you in reaching my goal. I have currently been working over 60 hours a week amongst three jobs to make this dream come true. I am only $500 shy of my goal. Sometimes we have to put money towards the things we want, and for me, this funding goes towards my sponsorships fees, wardrobe, and raising money for Warriors for Ross (a charitable movement that raises money for children and families who are living with the adversities of pediatric cancer).

Any. Amount. Helps. Even an $8 donation that could have gone towards a Chipotle burrito or a meal at Chick-Fil-A. Which believe me, I know is a huge sacrifice because those are two of my FAVORITE places to eat! Nonetheless, your help will not go unnoticed. I, first-hand, know how tough the economy is right now. So at the bare minimum, I hope that I can convince you to at least share this for me. Our voices can make a greater impact than money can - so help me by sharing this, so that I can potentially be the next Miss Kansas USA, and use my voice as a tool to bring unity in our country.

If you own a business/company and are interested in being one of my sponsors, your donation can go towards an advertisement in the Miss Kansas USA 2019 Pageant program book which you can write off on your taxes.

If you've made it this far down my post, thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I am truly blessed by the support and encouragement I've been shown from each of you. I can't put into words how thankful I am for your continuous support. Know that if I'm crowned the next Miss Kansas USA this November, it's not solely because of me, but because each of you believed in me. Friends, family, coworkers, and strangers I have met throughout - I have made it this far because of you. The love you have demonstrated me is a debt I'll never be able to repay. In a world that lately seems to appear so dark and negative, you've all been great examples to me of how much love continues to exists in the world through your support of me. Thank you.
