Hunter Built Ford Tough

As you know Hunter Ford has had some new challenges come in to his life. We can all help in our own way. Please read the message from his family:
Hunter Ford
Hunter is our 19 year old son who, up until about a month ago, was enjoying life as a freshman Criminal Justice major at Washington State University. He was busy embracing everything in “Cougar Country” from online classes, to the rec center, and getting to know his new brothers at Sigma Chi fraternity. Hunter is a 2020 graduate of Mead High School in Spokane. Hunter played baseball at Mead and loves to spend time with his baseball buddies camping and fishing anytime they can get together.
Hunter has an older brother Holt, a junior at WSU, and a younger sister, Hannah, a senior at Mead High School and a future Coug (Fall 2021).
How we got here:
After spending a couple weeks in his dorm room feeling run down and not improving, we went to pick Hunter up from Pullman on Saturday, February 27th. He definitely didn’t look like himself and we took him to the ER twice the next day. Late Monday he was admitted with a suspicion of having a blood cancer, and on Tuesday, March 2nd we got the news no parent wants to hear, Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
AML is an aggressive cancer that grows so fast it doesn’t really have stages or warning signs. It just sort of shows up. Hunter started an aggressive chemotherapy regimen on Thursday, March 4th. Due to complications with the rapid spread of the cancer in his body, he has been on hemodialysis and a ventilator since Saturday, March 6th. He is getting great care from Sacred Heart Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Oncology and continues to make positive daily progress. He is fighting for his chance to fight back against the cancer. He has a long road in front of him and the support from family, friends, and the Cougar Nation has been overwhelming. We are so thankful for your continued support and the hundreds who are thinking of him and praying hard for him daily. We believe God is not done with him!
How you can help:
Monetary Donations: We are in the process of medically withdrawing from WSU but hope to have him back on campus Spring 2022. Go Cougs! Any monetary donations to him will fund his studies at WSU. Donations may also be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in his name.
Blood/ Bone Marrow Donations: Leukemia patients, like Hunter, depend on multiple blood products and transfusions throughout their treatment. Please consider a blood donation to your local blood bank. Many Leukemia patient’s success will ultimately depend on a stem cell bone marrow transplant.
