Remember April Sykes?

At the age of 18 April Sykes was was raped repeatedly ,thrown in a trunk ,doused with gasoline and lit on fire. She lost her arm below the elbow on one arm and her fingers on the other along with many other 3rd degree burns ( covering 65% of her body) that took many months , many dollars and many skin grafts to heal. Some time later she sued her attacker ..virgil Samuels ,who's currently serving a 35 year sentence for what he did to her, and though she did win the 21 Million dollar lawsuit she didn't recieve a dime of it. Which is unfortunate and devastating for her financially. It cost upwards of 2 million dollars in hospital bills to heal her so you can imagine the time and pain that also went into that. She doesn't own a vehicle or a home of her own . She does rent a trailer, that rent along with other monthly bills is paid mostly by her small monthly income. Though if you ask her I'm sure she'd just smile that sweet smile we see in so many of her photos and say she's happy with what she has. She did admit she has dreams (possibly writing about what happened to her and/or taking classes to become more financially self reliant and though she says she doesn't mind the trailer where she lives she would love its location to be else where ..perhaps "out in the country"). And its obvious to me a lack of funding is what stops her from pursuing them. So I asked if I could try and help her, though a bit hesitant (she doesn't want to trouble those around ) and she says her community did so much for her while she was recovering for nearly half a year in the hospital. She agreed to let me do this.
