Eric Westover's Medical Fund

Hello! I am Amy, for most of my life I was also known as Eric Westover's little sister!  Everyone that knows him and even if you don't, I am talking about a big, strong, kind hearted guy! When we were much younger, he would torture me, as most older brother would, but always made sure he looked out for me in ANY way possible!!

Well, now it's my turn to try and help my BIG brother and the most amazing uncle to my girls!!

On Wed July 29th, 2015 Eric was on one of his weekly visits to Silver Lake sand dunes, doing what he loves, riding his dirt bike and collided with a Jeep Wrangler head on.
He was tossed off his bike, hit windshield and landed on the driver of the Jeep. Luckily, Eric was conscious and had no head, neck, or torso injuries. But both arms and both legs were in bad shape and need of repair. He was airlifted to Spectrum in Grand Rapids and started undergoing one of many surgeries.
That night on the list was to bring back blood flow/pulse to the right leg, in which they were able to do.  Also, fixing right arm. Start working on the other limbs with rods, traction, plates and anything else that would help piece him back together.
On Fri July 31st, he underwent a long 6 hour surgery on his left leg/ankle area and left arm. Taking out left side rods in arms, putting in plates, taking out the traction on his left leg and fixing left leg femur and cleaning out and accessing the right leg.
On Mon Aug 3rd, another surgery to re-evaluate the condition of both legs.
On Tues Aug 4th,  Doctor was able to talk with him and let him know that their recommendation of the right leg would be to amputate it. Because of the loss of blood flow, their was a significant amount of dead tissue and muscle. So his quality of life would be better with a prosthetic.
The Dr. is very hopeful for the left ankle area, hoping to fuse the ankle and foot together, but will know much more next week when they operate.
So Wed Aug 5th, his right leg was amputated above the knee. He is in good spirits, in true Eric style. He will start rehabilitation on Friday and get things moving.
We all know that this is going to be a VERY long road but know Eric is a fighter and will give it all he's got!!!

We know that the medical bills will start  piling up , the cost of prosthetic, modification to his truck and home for him to use independently. His wife Julie works full time and will be visiting him alot, so money to help with food, gas, etc. will be one less stress.

Anything that anyone can donate would be helpful! It's my turn to try to help my BIG brother out in a tramatic situation!

Thanks so much for reading and continue to keep Eric, his wife and our family in thoughts and prayers!

xoxo
