Kayla's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Kristen, and I am fundraising for a truly incredible individual.
On July 9th, 2022, Kayla Alford was in a terrible car accident while on her way to work. She was not far from her home and was rounding a curve in the road when her car hydroplaned from the heavy rainfall, and she lost control. The car turned sideways into oncoming traffic and was t-boned on the passenger side of her car. The impact broke her convertible top on the passenger side front (which is actually what probably saved her life). The impact caused Kayla's seat belt to fail, and she was ejected from the car through the broken roof as her car began to flip in the air and went down an embankment hitting a tree. Kayla was on the road unconscious. She did not regain consciousness until some hours later in the hospital.
Kayla will have a long road to recovery as she has multiple facial fractures, nose, eyewall socket, and multiple stitches on her face. Once the swelling has gone down, doctors can determine the surgeries needed and evaluate whether her vision has been affected in her right eye.
Kayla is currently a student working her way to finishing her degree. She has worked hard to maintain a part-time job as a server at McCormick and Schmicks while completing her degree. She will not be able to work for some time as there will be a long road to follow with surgery, follow-ups, and recovery.
The goal is currently $10,000 to assist with Medical Bills and Monthly expenses that will not be met while she is recovering.
