Austin Jr. vs ARPKD
Donation protected
Austin Antonio Galvan Jr. was born with a rare kidney disease called Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD). He was diagnosed with this in the womb and has been hospitalized since birth. At birth doctors didn’t believe he would be able to breathe on his own due to his kidneys being enlarged and not giving his lungs enough room to grow. Luckily he was able to breathe slightly with extra support from a ventilator. Soon after, Austin started Peritoneal Dialysis. The day before he turned one month he underwent surgery to remove both kidneys. He’s now off the ventilator and breathing room air. Although we’ve had many setbacks Austin has been able to push through them all. With that being said, we recently received amazing news from his doctors that we could be going home sooner than expected. We will be going home on dialysis until he’s big enough to receive a kidney. We’re asking for donations to help prepare our family for the beginning of our new lives back home. Anything will help, thank you for everyone’s constant support and we can’t wait to finally bring Austin home!
