Hi,
My name is Elizabeth Goodman, and I am asking for help for my husband Scott Goodman. We have been married for 22 years, and have two wonderful children. Our adult daughter Mary has Down Syndrome, and still lives with us, and our son Caleb is a junior in high school. We live in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Georgia in the city of Cleveland also known as the home of the Cabbage Patch Kids. For the past year and a half, Scott has been having progressing health problems. and we have seen several doctors in an attempt to uncover the issue. Finally, in February 2016 we were sent to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. After a week spent there in February and another week spent there in March, the neurologist in Jacksonville, is sending us to see another specialist in the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This doctor specializes in Multiple Sclerosis and other demyelinating disorders, and we are hoping while we are in Rochester to finally be able to get a definite answer as to what Scott's progressing symptoms are, and how to treat them. We have been told that it is possible that Scott has some form of MS, and they are leaning toward a rare type of MS that continues to progress.
This funding campaign is especially important to us, as Scott became unable to work or drive in November 2015, and our family is now down to my income to support it, and help pay all the medical bills.
Well, as you can imagine, it is expensive to take yourself to a doctor for treatment that is several states away from you, but when you are needing answers, this is what you do. We will be heading to Rochester in June. It would mean so much to us if you would consider donating to help Scott get to Rochester. We will use any funds received to pay for the trip to get us to MN, flight, boarding, car rental, etc... If funds are received in excess of what it costs us in Rochester, we will use those funds to help pay for those medical bills that have already been piling up from those previous visits to the Mayo clinic, as well as the local physicians that were seen prior to being sent to the Mayo Clinic. We would also love to use the funds to get Scott a scooter or other mobility device to help him when we are out in public. Extended walking fatigues him very badly, and he has to preserve his energy as best as he can in order to do everyday activities.
