Help Amor Animal Tepalcatepec Save Street Dogs

It is common to see starving, pregnant, and sick dogs on the streets of my hometown, Tepalcatepec, Michoacan, Mexico. It is so common that everyone sees this as part of life and takes no action to help these poor animals. As a kid, I also followed these norms. But I became enlightened on the matter 25 years ago, and since then, it now pains me to think of how so many animals suffer in the world. Five years ago, I went back to my hometown for a family matter, and that is when I met Josefa, a five-pound, six-month-old Chihuahua. She belonged to no one and lived on the street for who knows how long. It was love at first sight from the moment we met. She followed me everywhere I went. Everyone in this family gathering saw my anguish about Josefa not having a home, but they all thought it was completely okay. A five-pound dog, can you imagine that?! I was devastated, and all they could say was that she would be okay and to not worry! Needless to say, she has a fabulous life now with me, my husband Mark, and her little brother Onyx, our 17 lb. Aussiedoodle. I, of course, wished I could have done more, and now I have a chance to contribute and I am hoping you will too!
Just recently, four wonderful souls in my hometown have taken into their hands the loving job of rescuing these street dogs. Taking them in from deplorable conditions to a humble home filled with love. These four people are providing shelter, food, and medical assistance. They have found a kind and generous veterinarian that spays and neuters the dogs and provides other medical treatments all at cost. This is a big job; they are being inundated with animals and need help with food, supplies, and costs.
In the name of “Amor Animal Tepalcatepec” and I, we thank you profoundly.
