Medical expenses for clogged arteries & amputati
Donation protected
Anyone who knows me knows I HATE asking for help but I am having some medical issues and need assistance. I have blockage of the main arteries in my legs and also need an amputation of my big toe on my left foot as a result. The blood flow in my legs has to be corrected first, though, or the football may not heal and I would lose it as well.
I have already missed a week of work, without pay, because of this. I spent two nights in the hospital and no idea how much that's going to be.
I have a medical deductible of $2750 and additional yearly out of pocket of $6800. The year just started so I am nowhere near meeting either. I would pull from my 401k but I am ineligible because I did that when I had shoulder replacement in 2022.
I really dislike asking, but I have no choice. Unfortunately, I used Paid Time Off for various doctors appointments and I have not accumulated any for the new year. All the time I have taken and will have to take will be unpaid. I do have Short Term Disability, but I have to be out for 8 consecutive days or more before it will pay and the first 7 days are not covered, they are a 'waiting period'.
I have a procedure on 2/9 to put stents in both my legs but the hospital is wanting the part not covered by insurance - $5,358.70 - up front. I have no way to come up with this one my own nor the hospital bills I have yet to receive. I have no idea what to do than ask for help.
Anything will help me avoid bankruptcy, which I am considering.
