Reorganising the Hart Adventist Hospital in Ghana
Donation protected
If you would’ve told me a year ago, that I would be in Kumasi, Ghana I would have never believed you. Personally, I have always been comfortable in my own bubble. So although I consider myself ambitious and I like to do things that are outside my comfort zone, coming to Africa and working in a clinic is a completely different story.
But now, working at the Hart Adventist Hospital along with my fellow volunteer Roos, I have had some of the best experiences and created memories that are unforgettable. I am extremely thankful as I have the opportunity to build a bond with fellow healthcare workers and interact with patients who always express their gratitude.
While working in this hospital, we have realized how extremely lucky we are in having healthcare facilities that are modern, organized, and offer quick and efficient care no matter how small or serious my condition may be. We have gained a new perspective that showed us how we have been taking healthcare and daily life for granted.
We have decided to create this fundraiser to help the hospital as we believe working is only half of the task. The main way we would do this, is to ensure the organizational aspects are ran smoothly. We would like to add simple mechanisms such as clipboards on each patient’s bed and whiteboards that gave a brief summary of all the patients that are in a certain ward. With this, healthcare workers can easily see all of the patient’s conditions at a glance. We know that this is the first step to a bigger change, but because the hospital still lacks technology, organizing papers is the first step to proper care.
We would appreciate any amount of donations, and all extra funds will be directly donated to the hospital in the Ghanaian currency to help them buy their second microscope that will be used to diagnose malaria and a defibrillator for the emergency room.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
