Rebuild Tucker's Restaurant (Vine)
Donation protected
Nearly $10,000 in just two days - WE LOVE TUCKER'S!! The outpouring of support is amazing!!
When I woke up on Tuesday and heard about the fire, I was devastated and wanted to help. Just from paying Tucker's low prices and their limited hours, I knew Joe and Carla are not making tons of money. This is the kind of set back that can close a small restaurant forever. As you can imagine, Joe and Carla have been overwhelmed by what has happened. The early estimate was very low, from a fire inspector the night of the fire. It appears their insurance will not be covering as much as they had hoped. The family is busy getting estimates, calls, inspections; a realistic rebuild budget will take more time, and I hope to post a statement from the family when they have time to make one.
I started this campaign before I had heard a damage estimate - just on the assumption that any extra money would help as the kitchen is closed and they rebuild. The $5K initial goal was my arbitrary guess, and donations quickly rose, I increased the goal. A real kitchen rebuild (replacing damaged appliances, electrical and interior elements, upgrading fire suppression, etc), will likely be far higher. I'm going to increase the goal to $20,000 - again, without hard numbers.
We all hope that the family and place we love will come through this stronger than ever! Feel free to keep posting questions/comments. I'm a stay-at-home dad, so I figured I had more time than most to set this up and help out. The Tucker's family is thrilled about the outpouring of love and support - they are a community asset we can't picture OTR without!!
Thank you all <3
Last night, the kitchen of Tucker's Restaurant was destroyed by fire.
From the Cincinnati.com article:
"Tucker stood across Vine Street watching firefighters work to clear the smoke out of the restaurant his parents opened in 1957.
"I can't change anything that happened," he said. "I have to see what I can do to get the ball rolling again."
Please consider making a donation to help Joe and Carla get the ball rolling again. Please list your favorite dish in the comments!
It's uncertain how long the restaurant will be closed - anything you can spare will be appreciated!
