Forever Home Campaign

You can prevent 2,000 children in foster care from losing direct services.

The Macomb Foster Closet found out that they could no longer stay at their location and their services were at risk of ending. They were notified that their lease was not being renewed and they must be out this summer.

"We could not imagine children in our community going without proper clothing because we didn’t have a building to operate from," volunteers said.

Fortunately, though, there was a solution to the problem. A building, that was just perfect for them, became available for purchase, so we bought it! Not far from their current location, it had significantly more space, and volunteers will be able to expand direct services to help even more children.

Now we are calling on the community to help.

Volunteers launched the Forever Home Campaign with the goal of raising $350,000 to move in by the end of the year. This amount includes $100,000 down, $50,000 in first-year expenses, and $200,000 in renovations to cover the cost of paint, carpeting, lighting, HVAC, and other repairs.

“Our community has been so generous over the years,” said Kevin McAlpine, volunteer and board president. “Now we need your financial support more than ever. Every gift, any size, will make a huge difference.”

We also need you to be an ambassador on behalf of children in foster care. Anyone can donate or do a fundraising drive. Schools, churches, and businesses can play a big part in the solution. Children in our community are looking to you to help today.

Since 2012, the volunteers of the Macomb Foster Closet have been providing clothing and other essential items free to children in foster care.

Imagine a child without a coat, a pair of shoes, or any socks or underwear but oftentimes a garbage bag or the clothes on their back is all that a child has. This is the unfortunate reality for thousands of abused, neglected, and abandoned children who come into foster care every day right in our community.
