5-year old in critical condition after 16ft fall

Hi, my name is Rae, the neighbor of JJ Hernandez and family. I am raising money for the Hernandez family to alleviate medical expenses from this tragic incident with their 5-year old son, JJ. He currently is in the hospital in a coma after falling from a two-story window while waving to his mom.

I heard the neighbor mom screaming hysterically. I turned around to her laying on my drive way in despair. Her family was yelling and crying for help, asking me to call 911. As I was trying to ask the family what happened, I looked to my right and our neighbor JJ who is 5 had fallen out of the two story window onto the driveway. I instantly fell into shock from what I was seeing. I’d never wish anyone to see that. It was worse than I could have imagined.

He wasn’t breathing so I started to perform CPR with dispatch on the line until the ambulance could arrived. Suddenly 20 people were around us but I had tuned out everyone except that mom crying and yelling for her sweet baby. I knew I couldn’t step away until I gave that mom all of my efforts. Those few minutes felt like a year. I can’t remember much of those moments but i remember my hands on his little chest and someone was holding my hair out of the blood during the rescue breaths. It was so traumatic and wishing that this wasn’t happening to this sweet boy. Finally someone touched my hand, I looked up and the paramedics said he had a pulse.

With the 16 foot fall, he did not break any bones, but he did suffer from a brain bleed. He was life flighted to Primary Children's hospital where they immediately did brain surgery followed by a medically induced coma to heal the wound. We are still waiting for the news on if this sweet boy will make it through. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

I can’t even imagine what that mom and family felt for their little boy in those moments. I know that they care so much for their children. I would love to alleviate the burden of the medical bills.
