Peytons Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kristy and my son Peyton is a high risk Medulloblastoma Warrior. He has been fighting this battle since March 24 2021 when our world was shattered. Our family left our home in SC in April of 2021 with nothing but our clothes and headed to Memphis TN for treatment. We stayed in hotels for the first two months and then found a furnished home to rent for the next year. Peyton has had some setbacks on his journey and we are gonna need to be in Memphis longer than expected. The landlord of the house we are renting has decided to sell the house. Now we feel like we starting all over again trying to find a place for our family. We now have to come up with moving expenses, deposits, and extra expenses that we didn't expect. It's been really tough on our family with all the expenses and loss of income this past year. We are hoping to raise money to help with having to move and relocate so we can stay close to the hospital for his care. Peytons back story is below:
Our son Peyton is a 19 yr old who's life was completely changed all in one evening. Peyton had three seizures out of the blue on March 24th and was rushed to the nearest hospital. That night after scans they told us he had a large tumor on his brain stem blocking all spinal fluid and causing extreme swelling. He was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical to meet with Neurosurgery. After more scans and Lumbar puncture we were told there were 11 tumors in all on his brain, neck and spine and it was Cancer. Devastated and helpless is an understatement for how we felt. He was taken in for surgery to remove as much of the largest tumor blocking spinal fluid as safely possible. He spent 34 days in the hospital recovering from surgery. He lost part of his speech, most of all his hearing in his right ear, had really blurred vision, balance issues and had lots of confusion and pain. All of which he still struggles with.He was sent to St.Jude in Memphis from there to start radiation and chemotherapy for high risk Medulloblastoma. Upon arriving at St.Jude we were told Peyton would need an additional brain surgery immediately to remove more of the main tumor. He had that surgery 3 days later at LeBonhuer Children's Hospital. He began Proton radiation two weeks later and was in treatment for six weeks everyday, which took a toll on him. He is also having to do Physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, and Cardiology appointments bc they also found an abnormality with his heart. Peyton has just begun his chemotherapy at St.Jude and will have 7 cycles which will last for seven months. As of March 24th our family has not seen home. We stayed in a Hotel in Georgia for 5 weeks while he was in the hospital, and left straight from there for St.Jude in Memphis. We are having to rent a home in Memphis for our family because with Covid we couldn't stay in housing. My husband exerted all the medical leave he had at work and then had to leave his job, so we could be here for Peyton and get our boy through this monster we call Cancer. Without his income and having all these unforseen expenses has been a real struggle. We are gonna do everything in our power to get our son better and give him the life he so deserves. #prayersforpeyton Much love to all and to God be the Glory
