Kahlúa The Pitbull
Hello everyone, my name is Adrian and I am the proud father of the sweetest pitbull I've ever met. Kahlúa is a 1 year old rednose pitbull full of love and energy. She came into my life on Christmas eve of 2017. Since then, we have created a bond so close that I've started doing things that I never thought I would do just to keep my baby happy. Those of you who have been fortunate enough to come in contact with her know how loving and full of life she is. On August 12th, Kahlúa managed to squeeze through a crack in the gate and was struck by a truck as she was running across the street to grab a ball. As a result of the accident Kahlúa has a fractured right femur and her left hip is displaced. I've been communicating with the Bone and Joint surgeon and he has determined that Kahlúa will require surgery. The right femur fracture is a standard prognosis while the left hip displacement is much more complicated. The surgeon has given me three options: 1) Begin the procedure and potentially transition into a full hip replacement, 2) Go right into a full hip replacement, and 3) the "alternative" due to high financial costs. The surgeon and I decided to go with option 1, which means there may still be a chance she will need a full hip replacement. Yesterday's visit alone cost me $3100, which included consult, treatment and overnight stay (and that was the low end of the estimate). Today, we decided to perform a CT scan, which cost $1000 plus $1200 for sedation. Kahlúa will undergo surgery tomorrow morning, which means more charges for overnight stay and treatment. Before the procedure, we are looking at costs that run around $6500-$7000. If we have to do a full hip replacement, we are looking at an additional $10,000. This is all very costly but option 3 to me was never an option. I told myself that I would find ways to pay off her full treatment and that's why I'm creating this GoFundMe page. I'm having a pre-op meeting with the surgeon today and will posts updates as I have them.
