Support Kelsey!
Kelsey is one of the greatest people I know and is in one of the toughest situations I could ever imagine.
A former teacher, Kelsey was forced to stop working in 2019 when chronic illness made her unable to work. She hasn’t received a paycheck since the middle of 2019, and has eaten through her savings in the last 18 months trying to sustain herself. Despite being out of work for that long, she cannot apply for unemployment because she technically cannot work, and has been unable to secure any other government support because of the huge backlog of cases caused by the pandemic.
Kelsey’s situation has gotten progressively worse, as her savings are running out and there still is not an end in sight with meaningful change for her health or financial support from the government to help her survive, to the point that she has started to treat purchasing essentials as a luxury that she usually cannot afford. To reiterate: she has not had a meaningful inflow of money since 2019. For the first time in her life, she is in debt, despite years of hard work and carefully saving money. All Kelsey wants is to return to the workforce and do what she loves, but without any sustaining source of income, her pathway back to health is very limited.
All money donated will go towards helping Kelsey continue to pay bills and purchase essentials, pay for treatments doctors recommend that are not covered by insurance, and hopefully create an emergency fund for any unplanned expenses now that her savings are gone. Any funds donated beyond the goal will be put towards helping Kelsey pay off her debt and get back to a better place financially.
She is too proud and hardworking to ask for help, but I can no longer sit by and know that my best friend is suffering in these ways. Please help support, whatever you can!
