Jessie Ogden - Camps International Borneo 2024

Who am I?

Hello. My name is Jess Ogden and I'm 17 years old. I have been given the opportunity to travel across the world to Borneo to participate in a Camps International project. Im currently studying A-levels at the billericay school and as a part of my summer have chosen to give it up to those in borneo who do not have the privilege of having a ‘fun’ summer in hopes of making a change.

What are we doing?

This year I am working with my mum to raise the final half of the funds. For the last 9 months I have been recovering from an injury I retained to my shin, a fracture and a ligament issue with my ankle. Similarly with my mum, for the last 2 years she has been working to overcome a fractured hip. Together we plan to push ourselves to overcome these injuries. Over the Eater holiday we plan to run 5 miles a day for a week and then to later take partake in a nuclear mud run. We believe that any minor set back can be followed by a major come back. This challenge is not only to raise funds but to build ourselves back up again and build upon our mother-daughter relationship.

What are you donating to?

Each of Camps' projects are designed to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, working towards tackling global challenges on a local scale. They understand that many issues in sustainable development are interconnected and therefore take a holistic approach to develop their projects, tackling the most critical humanitarian, wildlife and environmental issues throughout the countries they work in.
You are not only donating to fund my trip but donating to change a life of many less fortunate young children in borneo.
On this trip, I will attempt to tackle and improve local community problems such as; housing and welfare, water and food security, healthcare and sanitation, education and training, sustainability of livelihoods, conservation of wildlife, environmental protection and animal welfare. I will also be helping young children with their school life. With this combined, I have the opportunity to change a person's life while shaping my own at the same time, changing my outlook on life and realising that some do not have it as easy as me or you.

Any contribution could help change both my and a family's life. If you are unable to donate please take a minute out of your day to share this cause so we can shine more light on the situation of borneo.

With your help I can make a unforgettable summer with the children in borneo.

Thank you
