Hi… for those that might not know me, my name is CJ. The beautiful woman in the pic with is my wife, Carolyn. We’ve been together for almost 14 years now = best 14 years of my life. A few days from now, we will be celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately, we won't be celebrating it together, as she is in a facility across the country. Carolyn struggles with a few various (serious) conditions. Over the past three years or so, arguably the worst condition (eating disorder / anorexia) has been in a relapse.
She decided to get treatment, and secured a bed. However, a few days after getting to the first facility, she went into acute kidney failure. They were sending her to the hospital urgently for treatment.
Let me tell you - that is a stomach-dropping call to get, and even worse when your spouse is too far away to be gotten to quickly.
She ended up being hospitalized for almost a month before being discharged to a third facility to hopefully start getting the ED treated. This entire last month has just been about stabilizing her kidneys and putting in the feeding tube (Carolyn actually asked them to do that).
Now, instead of getting ready for her homecoming... we are just now entering the treatment phase. And it is going to be longer and harder than either of us even realized.
All this is to say that we have had multiple unplanned expenses over the past month (flights, hotels, food, etc), including a month-long hospital stay that we definitely didn't budget for.
All that is to say... we are looking at an uncertain future at the moment. We get by day to day, but it's hard not having your person, your everything, accessible. And it's even more bananas to think of not seeing her for another two months. We've spent the better part of 14 years in almost constant contact. :)
We are both stressing about staying afloat during these next few unsettled months.
And so this is me, hat in hand, coming to you... those of you who have known us separately our entire lives, and those of you who have been around for any part of our ride... to plea for some assistance. This is not a situation either of us ever thought we'd be in, but that's life, I guess.
Truly, any small thing helps. And you will have our undying gratitude forever.
If you want any further information or have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
