Cochlear implants for children

Hi all, I am an Audiology student entering my final year. I have been able to research more on various types of hearing aids and cochlear implants. My interest had sparked in cochlear implants, as many of you may be aware it is not a straight forward process with parents having to make serious decisions to go ahead with such a tricky process. Unfortunately cochlear implants do not restore normal hearing but can significantly improve speech understanding and access to a wider range of sounds. For children who haven't been able to hear anything at all to having an improvement in speech understanding is a drastic and life changing moment for them. Last year I raised £2,700 for Hear the World foundation and this fundraiser will go towards the Ewing Foundation who support children undergoing cochlear implants.
