4 and half months into a 6 month recovery
Donation protected
Hey, I'm Laura, a massage therapist, who tripped over a gas pump hose and broke my elbow and smashed the radial head, which is the end of one of my forearm bones. I'll have limited use of my hand while the ulnar nerve regenerates as I recover. I'm unable to work in the meantime, though I'm working hard at physical therapy to regain use and control of my hand. I'm lucky to have a position working at a retirement facility, that offers an emergency fund for people in situations like mine. This helped me cover my first month's living expenses. Now, the second month's bills are coming in, along with the medical bills. I enjoy helping others with massage, as they heal from injuries and impairments. It's difficult to experience my hand feeling similar to my clients with cerebral palsy and those recovering from strokes. It's constricted, numb and painful. My range of motion has improved some but I have a long way to go to be able to return to working with others as they recover too.
