Gary's Walk to Defeat ALS Fund

Just last summer (2013) Gary was feeling the first signs of ALS but we wouldnt know what to call it until December 20th.  A life changing day.  We though we had years left but it turns out we had months.  At least we had this time.

Gary Crook, 44, of Louisville passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Hosparus of Louisville Inpatient unit at Norton Medical Pavilion from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) with his wife by his side. He was born in Dearborn, MI., and was an Artist and Professor. He earned his undergraduate degree at New Mexico University in 1993 and his Masters Degree at Vermont College in 2004.

2013 was a life changing year, for just last summer Gary was hiking with his family (Dylan, Jordan, and wife Karen) and in December he was diagnosed with ALS. He has influenced aspiring artists over the years teaching at various colleges and schools leaving his mark with inspiration of design. He has touched so many people with his works.

He was a great husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Gary chose a life where he could work from home so he could spend more time with his family. He has been married for 18 years to his wife during which they strived to keep a tight knit family and at the same time run a small gift store on Frankfort Avenue (Lexie's Trading Post).

Besides his wife and children, Gary is survived by his mother, Grace Crook and sisters, Kristy Brazell, Kris Cirone, Kimberly Kilpatrick and his brother Jeff Crook; Gary Griswold and numerous other family members.

A Celebration of Life was held Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, Louisville, Kentucky.
