618km Mizen2Malin Challenge

The money will be divided equally between our three charities. The Irish Cancer Society, The North West Hospice and The Donegal Hospice.

The funds raised will be used by the Charities to support the patients they treat in the most effective way.

My name is Julie McMullin. I am 50 years old. I’m from Roscommon but have lived in south Donegal for the last thirty years. I’m a Home Economics and Science teacher at St. Columba’s College Stranorlar. I am married and have four children. Over the past 15 years I have participated in many running, cycling, swimming, triathlon and adventure races. More recently I have participated in endurance events and was the first female in The Race 2018 (a 24hour adventure race in Donegal). In the past six months I completed The Hero 105-mile race in 24 hours with my friend Loretta Cullen.

My name is Loretta Cullen. I am 53 years old. I’m from Ballyshannon. I work in Kiernan’s supermarket in Ballyshannon and Bundoran. I’ve been with my partner Tony for the last thirty years. I started running in 2011 to raise money for Oxfam who I was working for at the time and I caught the running bug. I have since completed six marathons, one back to back marathon, two thirty-nine mile ultra-marathons, a fifty-mile ultra-marathon and the Hero 105-mile race.

We’re now training to run from Mizen Head to Malin Head over five days to raise funds for The Donegal Hospice, The Northwest Hospice and the Irish Cancer Society. Both of our Mum’s died from cancer and we are very aware of the wonderful work that the hospice movement and the Irish Cancer Society do and their ongoing need for donations. Anything that you can do to publicise our event would be very much appreciated by both of us.
