62 Miles in 31 days for Greek Paws

Donation protected

My name is David Carr, I am a web developer, blogger and author living in East Yorkshire UK and I am taking on a physical challange for a cause that matters to me.

Throughout August I'm running 62 miles in 31 days to raise funds for Compassion for Greek Paws (C4GP). Learn more about C4GP https://www.facebook.com/CompassionForGreekPaws/about

Funds raised will help support the work of C4GP. They are an animal welfare & rehoming center located in northern Greece for stray dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, or are in need of medical care.

Why Compassion for Greek Paws

In July 2021 we welcomed a new addition to our family. Joining the Pack was Beatrice AKA Bea, a rescue dog taken in by the C4GP.
Bea had been spotted abandoned on a mountain in the area of Kozáni, Northern Greece. It took several years to finally capture timid and fast Bea and in this time she had birthed several litters of puppies. Her name Bea was even inspired following the discovery of a litter hidden deep in a cave also home to several beehives.

Bea is a scent hound, her breed is a Grand Bleu de Gascogne and she was likely abandoned for a lack of interest in hunting. At around 8 - 10 years old she is now in the later years of her life.

The stakes for Bea were really raised when local hunting groups considered the at the time pregnant Bea to be a suitable target for their shooting practice prompting C4GP to step up and ensure her safety and that of her pups.
Bea's story, fortunately, comes with a happy ending. She has finally found a loving forever home, as have the majority of her now-adult puppies. Just a few remain in the shelter.

In appreciation to C4GP for all the hard work, love, and care given to the brave, sweet-natured, and elegant Queen Bea I've chosen this cause to help them continue their amazing work.

An important part of the work done by C4GP is to raise awareness of the need to neuter animals to prevent unwanted puppies from being abandoned to their fates.

Bea is far from the only dog helped by this incredible shelter. C4GP also are in need of funds to provide food and health care to the dogs and puppies in need. please donate and help them continue their work.

Why 62 miles in 31 days

The challenge to run 62 miles in 31 days takes place throughout August, after making great progress in the challenge to walk 1.7 million steps over 3 months to adding running will really level up this challenge.

This challenge has been especially important to me. I spent the majority of 2020 under the instruction to shield from the risks of Covid due to health conditions. Following this, I needed to raise my fitness back up, and the incentive of knowing I would be helping great causes spurred me to complete.

BTW 1.7 million steps = 18k a day - no easy feat when working a desk job.
Please donate and help C4GP to keep helping dogs and puppies in need.
