Rory Monroe Medical Fund
We are seeking the help of our
community, family and friends. We have never been the type of people that could reach out
and ask for help but medical bills and travel expenses have started
to exceed what we can afford.
Meet Rory Monroe. When he was born, there
were concerns with his kidneys. His doctors were hopeful that he
would grow out of his condition with in the year and we would have
nothing to worry about. He was put on a low dose antibiotic and we
waited a year to do more test and scans.
At his year check up in October 2013 we
found out that one kidneys is pretty healthy and looks good but the
other was a risk of dying from any little infection. It is small and
not functioning the way it should be. We were scheduled to take him
into surgery with in 2 weeks to correct some issues to protect the
kidney. There was a real possibility that he would come out of
surgery with only one kidney.
The surgery was the longest four hours
of our lives. We were so happy that the surgery went well and he
still has both kidneys. His doctors made sure to explain that even
though the surgery went great and he is doing great, we won't know if
the procedure worked until we do scans in Feb. 2014. And he will
always be at risk of losing that kidney whether or not it worked, the
procedure was to stop any further damage. He just went in again
recently for a quick surgery to remove his stents and so far so good.
Now we sit and wait....and now the bills are coming in.
We are a family of five and live in
Wasilla, Alaska and all his doctors are in Anchorage, Alaska. I stay at home with our
three children while my husband works. We basically live
paycheck to paycheck with very little to spare. We have Premera
insurance but that doesn't cover everything and with the Affordable Care Act our monthly has nearly doubled.(How is that
affordable, I still don't understand.)
Any donation amount helps. Feel free to
share our page also. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts
during this time.
