Palestinian lesbian needs your help

Hi. I’m Amy. I’m a 27-year-old Palestinian lesbian in need of your support. I use the name Amy to protect my real identity.

My journey has been a long one. When my mother first found me with a girl, I was physically abused. I have since tried to hide and suppress my sexuality but this has only caused me to become more depressed and I have considered ending my life a number of times.

Recently, I found the determination to be true to who I am and fight for my life one last time by planning to run away to the UK. I came out to my family and am suffering severe emotional abuse because of that. My family also want to send me to a doctor to try to ‘cure’ me and marry me off to a man.

I have previously tried to run away, getting as far as Amman, but lacked the support needed to complete my journey. This time, with the help of friends in the UK, I have a better chance but still need your financial support to make it viable.

Your donation will enable me to renew my Jordanian passport, pay for a visa, travel to Jordan, get a flight and support myself before I get settled in the UK, where I will apply for asylum.
I hope someone out there hears my voice. I believe we all have a right to be free. As a Palestinian living under occupation, I suffer from a double oppression – as a Palestinian and a lesbian. Your support will not only help me achieve what for now remains only a dream, but remind me that there is hope in this difficult world.

انا ايمي. فلسطينية عمري ٢٧ سنة، وبحاجة لدعمكم. استخدمت هذا الاسم لحماية نفسي. رحلتي مع مثليتي كانت طويلة جدا. لما عرفت امي عن مثليتي تعرضت لعنف جسدي. من ذاك الوقت حاولت اخفي ميولي وهذا الشي سببلي اكتئاب وضغط نفسي لدرجة جربت انهي حياتي عدة مرات.

في اخر فترة لقيت الاصرار على اني اكون صريحة مع نفسي واحارب لحياتي كاخر محاولة عن طريق اني اخرج من فلسطين واروح اعيش ببريطانيا. اعترفت لعيلتي بمثليتي والنتيجة كانت الذل والعنف النفسي والمعنوي. عيلتي هدفها الان اخذي لدكتور لتغيير طبيعتي وتزويجي من رجل لانهاء وضعي.

حاولت عدة مرات اني لهرب، ابعد مكان قدرت اوصله كان الاردن، بسبب نقص الدعم المادي لاكمال رحلتي. هذه المرة، بمساعدة اصدقائي في بريطانيا فرصتي افضل مع دعمكم المادي لتيسير الرحلة.

تبرعك حيساعدني أجدد جواز سفري الاردني، ادفع للفيزا، اسافر للاردن، واحجز تذكرة واعيل نفسي لحتى استقر في بريطانيا، البلد الي حقدم فيها لجوء.

اتمنى اني الاقي حد يسمع صوتي ويوصل قصتي. انا بآمن ان الكل له حق يكون حر. كفلسطينية تحت الاحتلال، بعاني من قمع واحباط مزدوج-كفلسطينية ومثلية. دعمك مش حيساعدني بس لاحقق حلمي، حيذكرني انه في لسة امل بعالمنا الصعب.
