Keaton's Journey

As many of you know, Keaton (age 15) suffered a severe, life-threatening bleed in his brain on September 22. He was airlifted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas where he underwent emergency surgery to relieve the pressure in his brain. After a week long stay in ICU and an additional 12 days at Dallas Children's, he spent two and a half weeks at the Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany, OK.
Keaton was welcomed home by a host of family & friends and was progressing nicely with outpatient therapy, with a goal of returning to school in January or February.
His recovery took a turn for the worse on Sunday, December 4 when he began experiencing right sided weakness & vomiting. CT scan revealed another bleed (more severe than the first) in the same area of the brain as the first. He was again airlifted to Dallas Children's. An angiogram was done on Monday, in hopes of identifying the source of the bleeds. Unfortunately, the clot in his brain was so large & was compressing the area of concern, so once again, they were unable to determine & potentially correct the source of the bleed. Carrie & Levi (age 1) have stayed in Dallas since his transfer, while Dave & Lane (age 4) drive back & forth every 3-4 days.
As if having a child in critical condition wasn't bad enough, Carrie was terminated from her position as a chemo nurse at OCSRI on Thursday. She had run out of PTO and was in Dallas at Keaton's side, unable to work her two shifts this week.
I've created this campaign to help them out as the job termination came at such a horrible time, right before Christmas. It breaks my heart that they would have to take their focus off of Keaton, who needs his momma so much right now, as they worry about how to make ends meet, find insurance coverage for Carrie, and still provide their kiddos with a good Christmas.
