Lizette's Medical Fund

My little sister Lizette's medical nightmare began on Oct. 22, 2016.  She  was admitted to Western Plains Medical Complex DodgeCity, KS with what was believed to be pneumonia.  With her left lung full of fluid she needed to have surgery to have the fluid drained immediately.  However, because of the hospital's small resources Lizette was transported by ambulance 2 hours away to Hays Medical Center.  In Hays it was discovered that something much more serious than pneumonia was taking place and she needed more specialized care.   Therefore it was decided they would transport her once agian by ambulance this time to Salina Regional Hospital.  In Salina she would be cared for by a thoracic surgeon.  After a few days of agony and a bronchoscopy we finally learned  that Lizette's issue stemmed  from a Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma tumor.  Over time the tumor had completely desimated her left lung and it needed to be removed.  Finally on November 1st she had a pneumonectomy, major surgery to remove her entire lung. 

Looking back now we realize she had suffered for 2 years with a horrible chronic cough.  She also spent time in and out of the hospital and Dr.'s office visits related to her condition.  Yet none of these resulted in a proper diagnosis of her illness during that time. 

The funds that you contribute will go to cover her expensive surgeries and various hospital stays.  It will also help with additional future needs because she will continue ongoing therapy and visits to an Oncologist These visits will require travel outside of the Dodge City area.

 At the young age of 29 Lizette has had to endure an unexpected health scare.  She is a wonderful young woman who has a bright furture ahead of her.  Our goal as her family and friends is to keep her happy and healthy for a long time.  Thank you so much for your donation.  We appreciate deeply all the prayers and the kindness that you have showed my little sister.
