This campaign is being run with the full consent and blessing of Barby Keel.

New health & safety regulations mean that we need to raise approx £15,000 to be able to provide new  fencing and double barriers between the public and the animals.
We also have to finish a toilet block,  provide extra hand basins, concrete more of our paths and various other changes to meet the new standards so we are not shut down!!

These upgrades and refurbishments are going to be expensive and we need to turn to the public for help.


The Sanctuary provides a specialist unit for cats with FIV, one of the only sanctuaries to do so.  We also provide a safe haven for cats, dogs, rabbits, seagulls, chickens, a variety of farm animals, feathered friends, and  other pets of various shapes and sizes.

Barby Keel founded the Animal Sanctuary in 1971.

The Sanctuary provides a refuge for lost
or rejected animals and fowl of all kinds.

We try to find permanent and loving
homes for the animals, when possible. 

Animals which can't be re-homed for
any reason are given a permanent home
at the Sanctuary. 

All the animals receive medical treatment
when necessary and all are spayed or neutered.

Barby Keel never puts any animal down,
unless it is absolutely necessary to prevent
needless suffering.
