 This is Bella's journey.

For those who aren't familiar with baby Bella's journey, she came into the world on March 14,2013 with a poor prognosis. She presented with a flatline EEG, with the exception of seizure activity. Neurologists said recovery was unlikely.

Today, Bella's brain seems to be recovering. She is a fighter! At 9 months she was diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Frontonasal Dysplasia,Bella has a long road ahead. A minimum of four operations are in her near future; the first, a cranial vault distraction, to increase the volume of her skull to accommodate a growing brain took place Feb. 2'14 at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. This was followed by 6 weeks of her parents turning screws attached to hinges in her skull. Her second surgery took place on May 26,14 when the distracters were removed.

In August or September, Bella will again travel to Toronto to undergo a complete forehead remodel and the creation of eyebrow bones. Shortly thereafter, her nasal bridge will be augmented. Sometime later, her eyes and orbits will be moved closer together. All procedures will be repeated depending on her future growth.
