#TeamAnissa Fundraiser
Donation protected
Anissa is a smart, beautiful, athletic, and self-less 15 year old. She was like any other teenager, she enjoyed going out with her friends, entertained herself by reading, played soccer, and joined SRLA at her middle school where they trained to run the 2014 LA Marathon. She was 13 years old when she ran and completed the LA Marathon.
Anissa continued to run and got first place in her division at a race in Mammoth. Shortly after that race, she felt a pain in her leg which she thought was just a strained muscle. After a visit to the doctor, we knew it was going to be difficult to identify what the problem was. After countless scans and doctor visits, on November 18, 2014, she was diagnosed with stage 4 osteosarcoma located on the left side of her pelvic bone.
This news has not altered her spirits. Anissa remains full of life and full of smiles. Throughout this process, she has dealt with surgeries, treatment, and hospitalization. This has given Anissa the opportunity to witness children and families who are less fortunate. The legacy she wants to leave behind is of her helping others and to bring awareness to everyone. She knows and understands that everyone is vulnerable to this disease.
Help us make her legacy possible. We have created this fundraiser to help the children and their families that we have met throughout this journey. Anissa has noticed that not all families have been financially fortunate as we have been. By donating, we can help raise money for children and their families to enjoy their time away from the hospital.
