Medical bills

Hi, my name is Carissa. I am Rande Drew’s daughter. I set up this go fund me to help my Dad with the financial burden he’s facing after being in the hospital for over a month. He is currently still in the hospital with hopes to go home very soon. We feel very blessed that he has recovered from his extremely critical state but now he is left to figure out medical and normal monthly bills.

As many of you know my Dad is a nurse and has spent 20 years caring for people. If you know him personally you know he has an extremely caring and generous heart and loves showing others kindness.

January 2021 both of my parents had Covid. My mother who has cancer was admitted and stayed for 3 weeks before being discharged home on oxygen. She stayed with my husband and I for a few months while my father was also admitted a week after her. Though my dad had covid he wasn’t admitted for that. He was admitted with severe pancreatitis, sepsis, and kidney failure. Nobody is sure why he suffers from the pancreatitis because he doesn’t drink but his pancreas was extremely inflamed and parts necrotic (dead). He was so critical he had to be transferred from one hospital to another and was in the ICU for 5 days. He spent in total about a month in the hospital and was discharged home with me. For the next couple months he went in and out of the hospital with flare ups of the pancreatitis. Just when we thought things were looking up and he was working on going back to work he ended up back in the hospital for almost 2 months due to an artery rupturing behind his pancreas. He had a large cyst that was full of blood that was smothering his pancreas. Due to all of this trauma he is now a type 2 diabetic. As if that wasn’t enough he recovered and went to go back to work and was told they no longer had a position for him and he had to go find a new position at another hospital.

Then comes April 2022. My dad had not been feeling well and while at work was rushed to the ER to find him once again suffering from severe pancreatitis, sepsis and kidney failure. During his stay he had his splenic artery rupture and we were told that it was a miracle he survived. With all that said my dad has been through so much. Now that he’s finally seeing a silver lining of getting discharged he is faced with how to navigate getting back to work, keeping his insurance to support my moms cancer, paying his bills and paying the medical bills from the past and current hospitalizations. I want to try to raise some money to help him get back on his feet. It is by the grace of God he has survived all of this and I pray God will help him heal and put this trauma behind us.
