Epilepsy Service Dog

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Isabelle, and I'm seeking funds for a service dog!

I was newly diagnosed with Intractable Epilepsy less than a year ago and have already failed the front-line medications, making my list of available treatments smaller and smaller. My seizures are occurring multiple times a month without a trigger or warning, and I often pass out from anti-epileptic medication. My neurologists expressed a service dog would be a huge help to live freely and safely. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, trained service dogs "are an alarm system. They are helpers, protectors, and service providers."

My independence is practically gone as I have remained under the watchful eye of others. Knowing when I'm about to have a seizure will allow me to take the necessary safety steps and give me back the freedom that I want. Adding a service dog to my life will permit me to grow and experience autonomy. Living with Intractable Epilepsy means I will need some extra help along the way, and for me, that happens to include a service dog!

Clementine, a female black lab, was born on 5/22/23 in Michigan. Over the course of her growth, she will soon spend 6-8 weeks with me to create a strong bond, then head off to the trainers. While I will visit her often to keep the bond and establish her tasks, she will be with the trainers for about a year, becoming a fully certified service dog.

*She will alert me before a seizure/passing out so I may get to a safer space and position in order to minimize injury.

*She will be trained to retrieve and bring me emergency medication.

*She will be trained to lie next to me during a seizure and prevent injury.

Currently, no health insurance contributes to the cost of a trained service dog. I am reliant on completely self-funded options and would appreciate your support. If you are unable to financially contribute (which I totally understand !!!), please consider sharing this on social media or with other people to get the word out. I appreciate any form of support and want to thank you in advance.
