HELP US GET THEM HOME
IN 2017, 100 dogs were rescued from the infamous OVIDIU kill shelter in Romania. After a hard life on the street they were put in makeshift pens and were fed and cared for by caring people who were financially supported by friends in the UK.
Quite a few dogs were placed in good homes in the UK and other EU countries in the following years.
Slowly however an unforeseen situation developed as the landlord started a business in the dogtrade. Bringing dogs from kill shelters and selling them. Often these dogs were ill and a nasty outbreak of distemper followed which infected and sadly killed some of our dogs as well.
OCTOBER 2019
The situation became unworkable when 2 of our dogs were found murdered one sad morning. Retribution? a warning? A police investigation followed but as the 2 bodies had miraculously disappeared nothing came of this.
An emergency situation developed when our workers were even denied access to our dogs by the landowner and her son.
The Dutch W.A.R.(Wildlife At Risk) Team entered in negotiations with the landlord and her son and eventually the 35 remaining dogs were released into our care.
A good friend Madalina Danbu together with Raluca Butan, investigative journalist and involved with the dogs since the rescue in 2017, organised the transport for these 35 dogs from Azoria to a newly built shelter owned by Madalina where the dogs could be safe and well taken care of.
2020 - We brought 6 dogs already to NL this year and 5 of them have found their own golden basket and are happily living in their very own home.
For the other dogs we are fundraising for the cost of veterinarian checks, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, travel expenses, food and rehab costs so they can come to the Netherlands and be placed in good forever homes as well.
We are very happy to let you know that we have 3 booked on the bus which will leave Romania on August 27th.
For them and their friends still waiting in Romania we are fundraising to cover the cost of vet checks and tests, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, travel expenses, rehab costs, safety harnesses, GPS trackers, food etc.
We hope you will help us get them home to NL so they can finally have a life that is safe in a loving home they can call their very own.
