SAVE OUR SCHOOL - EL TESORO DEL SABER

Hola, my name is Carlos Tovar, and I am a Colombian citizen, born and raised in the city of Cali. I moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2014. I have started this GoFundMe page to help EL TESORO DEL SABER, a school from my hometown, where I have been volunteering in different roles for about 16 years. The main goal is to raise $250,000 before the end of December 2022 to help them purchase the building they are currently in before eviction. The building owners will put it up for sale in January 2023.

EL TESORO DEL SABER, located in the neighborhood Terron Colorado, is a not-for-profit institution that provides educational services to disadvantaged children in the Cali community. This school and program have been running since 2002. Essential services provided include:

• Promoting integral development for children and youth in the Cali community.

• Teaching individuals key subject areas in their life to help them excel in achieving their dreams.

• Stressing the need for children and youths to acknowledge that they, too, have human rights, regardless of their disadvantaged background.

• Providing shelter and support for those who have become associated with drug abuse, domestic violence, gang warfare and prostitution.

EL TESORO DEL SABER was created to provide the necessary restoration of principles and values to the youth in the community. These individuals come from poor socioeconomic conditions, dysfunctional families, and places where education isn’t a priority. Many of them have been expelled from other educational institutions in the sector. With the support of EL TESORO DEL SABER, More than 700 young people have finished their higher education and been given a chance to go to university or into the workforce.

All the funds will be directed to Global Colombia Foundation for Education not-for-profit institution, which will supervise the negotiations and the legal documentation to purchasing the building EL TESORO DEL SABER is housed in, globalcolombiagroup.com/fundacion-educativa/

The Colombian Notary Public, Ana Dolores Garcia, will be witnessing and processing all documentation for the land and legal requirements for purchasing the property through Public Notary #16 of the City of Cali, Colombia.

If they can keep the building, it means they can keep changing the lives of thousands of people. Their job will continue, generation after generation, giving a second chance to the community. If funds cannot be raised, they will be evicted from the building, and the program will not continue. This would be a massive loss to the community.

Hola, mi nombre es Carlos Tovar, y soy ciudadano colombiano, nacido y criado en la ciudad de Cali. Me mudé a Melbourne, Australia, en 2014. Inicié esta página de GoFundMe para ayudar a EL TESORO DEL SABER, una escuela de mi ciudad natal, donde he sido voluntario en diferentes roles durante aproximadamente 16 años. EL TESORO DEL SABER, ubicado en el barrio Terrón Colorado, es una institución sin fines de lucro que brinda servicios educativos a niños desfavorecidos de la comunidad caleña. Esta escuela y programa han estado funcionando desde 2002. Los servicios esenciales que se brindan incluyen:

• Promoción del desarrollo integral de la niñez y la juventud de la comunidad de Cali.

• Enseñar a las personas áreas temáticas clave en su vida para ayudarlos a sobresalir en el logro de sus sueños.

• Enfatizar la necesidad de que los niños y jóvenes reconozcan que ellos también tienen derechos humanos, independientemente de su entorno desfavorecido.

• Brindar refugio y apoyo a quienes se han asociado con el abuso de drogas, la violencia doméstica, las guerras de pandillas y la prostitución.

EL TESORO DEL SABER fue creado para brindar el necesario restablecimiento de principios y valores a la juventud de la comunidad. Estas personas provienen de condiciones socioeconómicas pobres, familias disfuncionales y lugares donde la educación no es una prioridad. Muchos de ellos han sido expulsados de otras instituciones educativas del sector. Con el apoyo de EL TESORO DEL SABER, Más de 700 jóvenes han terminado sus estudios superiores y han tenido la oportunidad de ingresar a la universidad o al mundo laboral.

Todos los fondos serán destinados a la Fundación Global Colombia Fundacion Educativa, institución sin fines de lucro, que supervisará las negociaciones y la documentación legal para la compra del edificio en el que se encuentra EL TESORO DEL SABER, globalcolombiagroup.com/fundacion-educativa/

La Notaria Pública de Colombia, Ana Dolores García, presenciará y procesará toda la documentación del terreno y los requisitos legales para la compra de la propiedad a través de la Notaria Pública #16 de la Ciudad de Cali, Colombia.

Si pueden conservar el edificio, significa que pueden seguir cambiando la vida de miles de personas. Su trabajo continuará, generación tras generación, dando una segunda oportunidad a la comunidad. Si no se pueden recaudar fondos, serán desalojados del edificio y el programa no continuará. Esto sería una gran pérdida para la comunidad.
