Aiden's Journey

My name is Connie Wetzel and I am the Grandmother of the most amazing 9 year old boy.. I am reaching out to ask for help for my daughter, son in law and their family.. My grandson Aiden was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Both parents will be at Aiden's side as they navigate this journey. They both will be missing quite a bit of work and will be incurring a lot of additional expenses.. Many people have asked what they can do to help. If you feel compelled to help relieve some of Megan and Mike's financial burden so they can concentrate solely on Aiden they would be forever grateful.

Four words.....

Four words just changed our lives forever....

Your. Child. Has. Cancer.

Never in a million years did I ever think Id be sitting here in the hospital next to my baby boy begging God to save him... to make him better....

9 years old....he is 9 years old. So full of life, happy, just wanting to go home for Halloween...

So far, the preliminary pathology report shows that he has Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. An extremely rare cancer that is practically unheard of in children. It is rapidly growing and the survival rate is not the greatest. It has spread into the liver and lymphnodes. BUT WE HAVE HOPE THAT GOD WILL BRING HIM THROUGH THIS ❤️

We wont know much about next steps until the next couple days. Most likely they will do a surgery that is called a Whipple. They will completely remove the pancreas, remove the spot on the liver and the affected lymphnodes. The surgery is an all day procedure. Unfortunately this cancer is not usually helped by chemo. Since his pancreas will be removed, he will become diabetic and will have to take medications for the rest of his life. BUT we can manage that.

Please continue to pray and love on him. This community of people that is surrounding him and us is amazing. You all give Mike and I strength to be able to be strong for Aiden. I have faith that God will bring him out of this and back to great health.
