Juvy Mock Trial 2018

For the third consecutive year, Otto A. Fischer School in Orange County Juvenile Hall has a team participating in the Orange County Mock Trial Competition. https://www.crfoc.org/programs/mock-trial/. This year, we have 15 amazing kids who have been working so hard to prepare for the competition.
As they take notes with two-inch pencils, which they are forced to return at the end of each session, our students recognize that they need to work twice as hard to prepare as their competitors who come from some of the best private schools in Orange County. But, as anyone who has ever worked with these kids know, they aren't easily intimated.
While our students are forced to deal with the unimaginable stress of being imprisoned as a child, socioeconomic stressors when they are out of custody, and learning disabilities as they try to master the materials, the last thing these kids should have to worry about is what they are going to wear to a mock trial competition.
Some of these kids have been incarcerated for years and have not had the option of putting on a pair of socks that haven’t been worn by dozens of other kids, so they would be more than happy to wear whatever clothes we gave them. But these students deserve the confidence boost that comes with putting on brand new clothes, shoes, socks, etc. bought just for them. Plus, not only would the students look and feel amazing during the mock trial competition, but they would have their new business clothes and shoes waiting for them "on the outs" to be used for job interviews, church, etc.
Please donate and help us give these kids the self-esteem boost they deserve! Thank you for your support!
