Please help all of us here at Red Baron Transportation ( I am the HR Manager) raise money for one of our dedicated employees who has been hospitalized for over a month now. It all started from kidney stones which caused a blockage that required emergency surgery to save his life. In addition to the kidney stones, Curtis got Sepsis (also known as septic shock), which is a serious blood infection which put him in a coma for around 2 weeks. He fought through the sepsis, and the coma, and is now awake and alert. Unfortunately because of the sepsis, and loss of blood flow to his extremities, he had to have both of his feet amputated which will require extensive rehabilitation. He also just lost a few fingers on his dominant hand, making his day to day activities all that much harder. He will need to be fitted for prosthetics in order to walk again which are expensive, and not often covered by insurance.
Curtis has worked most of his life as a Long Haul Truck Driver, and is always very positive and cheerful in all aspects of his life. As soon as he woke up, he asked us “When can I come back to work”? He was getting bored already in the hospital.
It will not be easy for him to return to work as a Truck Driver in the condition he now finds himself in, but he is determined to do it. And if anybody can do it, it will be Curtis. He is very strong willed, confident, optimistic and positive, which will be needed during this challenging time.
Curtis is a loving father of 2, and grandfather of 3 amazing grandsons. He lives in North Carolina near one of his sons, but most of his family is out of state which has made this predicament all that more difficult. All of the employees at Red Baron Transportation have become his extended family since July 2014 when he moved here from Ohio to take the job as an Over The Road Truck Driver.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his ongoing care needs. We are asking for donations to help him with medical bills, the cost of prosthetics, and all of his other bills that are piling up while he is unable to work. He is too proud to ask for any help for himself, but we know that he needs as much help as possible during this time, and we want to assist him as much as we can.
He has a long road ahead of him, but he has never given up before, and we do not plan on giving up on him either.
