Give Lunch or a Latte for Justice in 2020!
My friend Tiara (aka @fourwheelworkout) is a fierce, intelligent woman who has proven she has MORE than what it takes to be the Public defender she dreams of being.
Last year an unexpected complication with a high-risk pregnancy disrupted her path to passing the California Bar. Help us raise the funds she needs to focus on finishing her journey in 2020!
There are a lot of qualities a good public defender needs, and Tiara has them all.
Growing up with severe health challenges taught her compassion,
Living as a wheelchair user in a world designed for walking has honed her skills in planning and knowing how to get the best results from all available resources.
Being intelligent and goal oriented means that she became a scholar with a commanding presence who didn’t let anything divert her from the goal of making a difference.
For example, during her 1L orientation, she wrote in her planner “Get on the Trial Advocacy Honors Program”,
a mock trial team. Tiara tried out and placed in the Top 4 during trial competition, earning her place on that elite team.
Why am I writing this? Because even the best of planners and the hardest of workers need a little help.
Last spring, Tiara’s solid track to the California Bar was diverted by the early appearance of this handsome young man: (can we insert a pic of Bean here?)
Last spring, Tiara’s solid track to the California Bar was diverted by the early appearance of Bean- the young man seen below studying along side his Mom.
Anyone who has taken the California bar knows that it is one of the most difficult in the country. Even students without distractions struggle to pass.
Now imagine trying to study struggling with pregnancy complications and the life of your baby and yourself suddenly at risk!
Tiara has managed a lot on her own in her path towards becoming an advocate that our community needs and deserves. But now she needs the funds to focus full time on her bar review studies, and as her friends, we can make that happen.
All Tiara needs to study full time from now until taking the Bar this Summer is $14,000. This money will cover the modest expenses that her law clerks salary previously did:
Rent - $1500/month
Utilities - $200/month
Groceries - $200/month

Bar test fees - $677-680 application; $150-200 Laptop; $500 Moral character application; $86 MPRE
Between Tiara and I, we have 9500 twitter followers. If you could give $5 or $10 (lunch or a latte!)
and/or shared this, we can meet that goal!!
