Mobility Van for Morgan

Donation protected

IIn December 2015, Morgan was diagnosed with a brain tumor at just six years old. Shortly after her diagnosis, she underwent two brain surgeries to remove the cysts and tumor. After the surgery, my sister hoped life would return to normal, but unfortunately, it didn’t. Morgan has faced many challenges that drastically changed her quality of life. The days of being a normal, playful child were replaced with frequent hospital stays and taking 20 pills a day to survive. Removing the tumor left her with a lifelong battle against diabetes insipidus, panhypopituitarism, hypothalamic obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, urinary incontinence, pseudoaneurysm, and adrenal failure.

This journey has been incredibly difficult for my sister, who has been a single mom since Morgan’s father passed away unexpectedly in 2009. For 16 years, Tracy has been raising Morgan on her own while working as a Chicago Public School teacher. Despite these trials, Morgan and Tracy have tried to make the best of their new normal. They’ve adjusted their lives to ensure Morgan still experiences moments of joy.

In December 2017, Morgan’s tumor returned. This was devastating, as she had just begun to adjust to her new way of living, only to have it disrupted again. Being the strong mother she is, Tracy decided to seek help from St. Jude Research Center, even though it meant being hundreds of miles away from her support system.

On August 15, 2017, the day after Morgan’s birthday, they packed their bags and headed to Memphis. St. Jude planned for Morgan to undergo another brain surgery. The surgery was successful, but when Morgan woke up, she couldn’t feel her legs. It was discovered that she had possibly experienced a spinal stroke during surgery. Morgan has been paralyzed from the waist down since 2017. This new diagnosis has made their lives even more challenging. Getting Morgan to doctor appointments or simply enjoying a day out has been difficult without a mobility van. Their home is also not accessible, adding to their daily struggles.

I don’t know if this GoFundMe will generate enough money to get her a mobility van, but any contribution will be a blessing. Thank you all so much in advance! Please keep Morgan in your prayers, as God still works miracles every day.
