Hi, my name is irene & I wish to help a dear friend and her family this Christmas.
Most of you would be out Christmas shopping and taking your little ones to get their yearly Santa photos. Still, my friend and her family are spending their time distraught in Westmead children's hospital, watching and waiting impatiently for their son to come out of a critically induced coma, hopefully.
Lucas is a gorgeous 6-year-old boy who should be driving mum and dad crazy at home, listing off everything he would like for Christmas; unfortunately, Lucas fell ill a little over a week ago.
Lucas was rushed to a local hospital because he had heart problems.
His parents were notified that Lucas had contracted strep A, which unfortunately turned into pneumonia; Lucas was rushed from his local hospital to Westmead children's hospital, although at this point, his parents were told by doctors/paramedics that they were not confident that Lucas was going to make it alive to the hospital.
Despite the odds, Lucas fought, and his little heart kept beating, and he made it safely there.
Unfortunately, things kept going downhill; Lucas went septic, ended up in a septic shock and was also put on life support.
Lucas is currently in a stable but critical condition in a medically induced coma; he is under dialysis to help fight infections; he is on a ventilator which has also caused problems as now he has extra fluid in his lung due to a puncture in the lung from the ventilator.
Every day there has been a new challenge with many bumps along the way especially with doctors struggling to keep Lucas’s fever under control.
My friend Jasmine and her partner have a big family of 8 children who need your help. Every dollar that gets donated will go towards the following:
- Accommodation at Westmead hospital for Lucas's parents as parents are paying a daily out-of-pocket fee for this.
- Rent/utility bills & groceries for their other seven children at home as both parents are off work and not receiving an income.
- Any out-of-pocket medical bills that get charged.
Your help will make such a huge difference, please help take a load off this families finances so they can soley focus on their little boy, i couldnt begin to imagine what it would be like to be in this families shoes, especially with such a traumatic situation of being in the unknown, not knowing if their little boy will make it.
