Matt Arendt suddenly passed away on Saturday, January 18th, 2020. He left behind his loving wife, Kate (Besser)Arendt, and his 9 year old daughter, Madelyn Arendt.
Matt was 36 years old when his life was taken from his family. He enjoyed running marathons, hiking, camping, working out, and grilling food for his family and friends. He loved his job as an electrician at the IBEW local 41; he was extremely hardworking, and talented.
On January 2nd, Matt was out for a jog in the chestnut ridge park area, which is something he did regularly. Shortly thereafter , a passerby discovered Matt laying on the ground and unconscious. Matt was then rushed to the hospital to undergo several long and serious surgeries to his brain. After many test and scans it was found that he had a brain aneurysm, that was caused by what doctors said is "bad luck".
Over the course of the next couple weeks he made unbelievable progress; he had the hospital staff, family, and friends in shock of how well he was recovering. Matt was released to go home on Wednesday, January 15th. The next few days Matt stated that he felt the best he has since any of that happened. The following Friday night, Matt’s wife Katie, heard Matt struggling to breathe while he was on the couch. She ran over and checked on him and discovered that he wasn't breathing but had a pulse. She immediately called 911 and got him back to the emergency room. After many more additional scans and tests, the doctors confirmed that Matt had another massive rupture with an additional brain aneurysm; This time causing Matt to slip into a coma with an extensive amount of irreversible brain damage. In addition, Matt also suffered from respiratory arrest, which stopped his ability to breath on his own. The doctors did everything they could to save Matt, but he was declared brain dead. The following Saturday , January 18th, Matt sadly passed away.
His wife and daughter loved him so very much and are trying hard to be strong during this incredibly difficult time. Matt's family and friends are doing everything to help his wife and daughter get through this heartbreaking time for them. Anything you can do for this beautiful family would be greatly appreciated. The only thing Matt would have ever wanted, is to make sure his two favorite girls are taken care of.
My name is Bernadette Singer and I am a friend of the family.. The beneficiary of the campaign will be Charles Besser, who is Kate (Besser) Arendt’s sister and he will ensure the funds raised are given to to Kate and her 9 year old Daughter Maddie to provide them some relief from this awful tragedy.
