Bring Julie Home

Julie Riviere, a Service Director / In-charge Flight Attendant for a major airline is in the Etobicoke General Hospital after falling down a flight of stairs. She was moving into a new crash pad (that’s she’s had to maintain since the Halifax base closure) after her old one sent eviction notices out to her group. She was doing this before her next pairing departing last Monday. She has a broken humerus (arm bone just below her left shoulder which she had surgery on Wednesday) and a shattered left tibia which currently has an external fixation device installed waiting for the swelling to go down to have reconstructive surgery completed (current estimate 6 weeks). Julie lives in Nova Scotia and her husband Mike just spent the week there to support her. She is in pain 24/7 and struggling every day. Mike just flew home today and now has to isolate for 14 days as per provincial policy. She is now alone, in severe pain and dealing with significant anxiety which she is prone to on a good day. We have looked into getting her transferred to a Halifax Hospital to be closer to family and get treatment by her local physician and surgeon. Her insurance will not cover the transfer. The provinces will not cover the transfer. The only option is to pay out of pocket to an Air Ambulance at a cost of $19,000 which is way beyond their means. We need your help desperately. She is now alone, disconnected from all family and friends, and going through the hardest time of her life.
