Help The Hedgecocks

Three weeks ago my sister Suzanne had a knock at her front door. She opened it, thinking it was her husband John arriving home from work, but instead she found a policeman standing on her doorstep.

Suzanne was told that John had been in a serious accident. He was hit by a car on his way home from work and had to be taken to the nearest trauma hospital by helicopter. John sustained many injuries and was in critical condition. The extent of the injuries included: a bleed on his brain, broken ribs, both lungs collapsed, a shattered spleen, both of his legs and knees broken, a broken arm, parts of his spine had broken off and severe soft tissue injuries.

John is now conscious following weeks of ventilation, but is suffering with memory loss, agitation and confusion as a result of the brain injuries.

He currently does not recognise his own family.

John remains in hospital and still awaits various surgeries. There is a long road ahead for his recovery and we are uncertain if his cognition will ever improve.

Meanwhile, my amazing sister is trying to juggle the grief of almost losing her husband, with the reality of not knowing how this is going to end. On top of this, she is the most spectacular mum to her 3 year old twins and supporting them through this impossible situation of not being able to see their daddy who is in hospital.

With all this going on, there are still all the bills that need paying, food to put on the table, children to support through nursery and petrol needed for the 2.5 hour return drive travelling to and from the hospital. This will all now rely on Suzanne's wage alone, which is near impossible.

We need to raise money to support Suzanne and her children through this difficult time.

Suzanne is the most kind, caring and generous person I know. She is trying to be strong, but I want to show her that she doesn't have to do this alone.

Please, Help The Hedgecocks and donate today. Any contribution, big or small, will make the world of difference.

Thank you so much.
